Scarlett Johansson (born November 22 1984 New York City New York, U.S.) American actor and performer whose performance range earned her popular acclaim across a range of genres from period drama to thriller and action adventure. Johansson grew up in New York City as the daughter of an architect, and also an executive from a production firm. Hunter was twins with the younger sibling. By the time she was seven, her interest in acting had increased. She began to audition for commercials. Following a short period her studies began in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Later on it was the time that the Professional Children's School was opened in Manhattan. In the Off-Broadway production Sophistry she acted alongside Ethan Hawke. She then had her first appearance in a film in North (1994) which was directed by Rob Reiner, at age nine. Johansson was later seen as a character in Just Cause (1995) but her breakthrough was Manny & Lo (1996) which was a film about orphaned sisters who run away. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played a teenager with a deformity caused by an accident, earned her critical acclaim. In Ghost World 2001 (as the cynical teenage outcast Rebecca) Johansson received even more recognition. Renee Felice Smith started her professional career in entertainment as a child. While she was still a young child, Smith became interested in acting. Smith found her first role as an actor at 6 years old, through the support of her parents. She starred in a TV commercial for Dannon yogurt. As many new actresses choose to pursue, she decided to build her skills in theater. As she worked on other productions in the USA she also had her debut on stage in Wildflower. She studied at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
